I picked up a KLT200 a few weeks back, and I'm about to drop back 15 and punt.

It was a wiring nightmare when I got it, but I have it rigged enough to get pretty strong spark (new aftermarket CDI). Took the carb to work and cleaned it up as well as I could.

I can get it to pop every once and a while (once every 5 minutes). I've checked the timing, and the marks are right on. T on the flywheel and KZ200 lined up with the "TOP" on the head. I thought that it was 180 off, but that didn't help at all either. It will blow the ether out of the carb before the suction, and sucks a little on the exhaust before blowing.

I think it's acting like it's out of time. Has anyone had a timing chain skip a tooth or stretch? I'm am about to give up on it. lol

Thanks for any info you may have.

If the chain was really bad, I suppose it could have skipped a tooth. Cam chains do stretch as they wear, just like your drive chain.

Any idea how difficult a motor tear down is on these? There's gotta be something wrong internally.

I've never done it. If you don't have a manual, get one. It's probably not much harder than any other engine.
