84 185s neutral problem

I picked up a 200x with a 84 185s engine it has a few issues but like the pull cord broke and the cable for the decompression is missing any info on where to pick up the right cable would be helpful. but the real issue is that I cannot get it to stay in neutral.it fells like it goes in but if you move the bike a little you here a little click and the bike is in gear is there an adjustment or do I have a worn gear or something please help

the 185s engine isnt like a standard honda engine gearbox. the 200x neutral is in between 1st and second gear. on a 185s u downshift all the way into neutral. the gear pattern is reversed also so upshifting is downshifting and downshifting is upshifting. dont worry you will get the hang of it. took me a while too
