So I have a PRM six pack rack on my 350x that I do like. Blocks my rear light but that's a different conversation. I'm going to do some trail riding in the woods and wanna go a bit deeper than my 3.0 gallon Clarke will let me. I don't know of any oversized tanks for this bike anymore. So my question is a 2 gallon carb approved gas can tightly strapped to the six pack rack good idea or death wish? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170312/9a9164c2a1ec31e90f9ecb3aba3c5bfc.jpg

So on further inspection there's a mounting point on the six pack rack for the light. Man I'm dumb. Had this rack for over a year. Been taking it off to night ride. Sorry PRM. So with that being said , gas can, death wish or go for it? Thanks

I ride all summer with a gas can on my 250R. Ratchet strap it tight and you will have no problem.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I have PRM 6-pack racks on three of my machines and never realized they have provisions to mount the tail light either! Thanks for the tip! Can you post a side view pic of it?

As to the fuel can, I did OK for quite a while just using the strap provided with the rack.. But one day one of my riding companions stopped me because the fuel can somehow jumped out of the rack and was dangling by the strap. So since then I criss-cross two bungie cords across the top through the handle of the fuel can for added insurance against that happening again. Since then I have had zero issues. Just keep an eye on the condition of the bottom of your fuel can, dust and dirt does get in between the rack tray and the bottom of the fuel can and is abrasive to the bottom of the can. Over time I'm sure it could eventually wear the bottom of the fuel can pretty thin, but it would take awhile.

Side views. Yeah I'm gonna give it a try. Didn't make it out today but in a couple of weeks I'm gonna go deep and bring it.

Must be two generations of racks or are these different models as one has the mount and one doesn't so maybe that's why I never noticed.

The one with the skinnier bottom rails is the older model and yeah so I don't know about those. Mine is less than a year old. Probably about 8 months. Only had the bike about a year.

Hmm.. the trays on all three of mine look just like the ones that have the tail light mount..but I don't have tail light mounts.
