What kind of fork oil do you guys use? What is the best fork oil, looking to get some for my 86 250R.

Thanks,
Andrew

ATF. Just in case the tow vehicle needs a top off.

The manual calls for ATF, but if you want to tune (by adjusting the viscosity) then you'll need to go buy purpose made fork oil. I don't think there is a large distinction between the various manufacturers of fork oil. You'll probably find one brand at your local dealer, so go with that.

Personally, I've just used ATF with my rebuilds (350x, 200x). Ride it that way and unless you feel the need to increase/decrease the damping, just leave it.

My 200x forks are freshly rebuilt and filled with automotive power steering fluid. I prefer it to ATF for the purpose. My trials bike has 10 weight Maxima fork oil so it's nice and bouncy. I'm happy with both of them.
