What are the differences in the yamaha 200, 225 and 250 motors used in the 80's.
I think the 225 has a slightly longer stroke? what parts are interchangeable.
I have a 1987 moto 4 200 that I think is at max oversize and was looking at the piston, cylinder and gasket kits for the 225 and 250 motors.
like to put a 250 cylinder on a 200 if possible.

I found a 225 engine and will install a 250 kit from e-bay as the top end is bad. This is going in my moto 4 200. I am also installing a 225 three wheeler rear end as the four wheeler is much slower.

The YTM225's had three bolt rims. You may be able to swap the hubs from your Moto four onto the trike axle.

do you happen to have a link to that 250 kit? I am thinking of upping my ytm200 when needed.

You will gain some from this swap, but from what I remember, the 200 had a shorter stroke than the 225/250 so you may not gain a lot. I did it on my 225, but the cylinder needed to be sleeved and the Timberwolf engine was free. It's only a 6cc increase in displacement. I'm not trying anyone from doing this, I'm just hoping that no one will expect a ton of power from doing it.
