Hey everyone out there, i'm thinking of putting some money into my atc 200x to make it really damn cool. so far, i have done so much stuff to at least try to figure out the gas tank(metal) to get it to stop leaking, but even marine tex epoxy, which is everything proof, doesn't work.Deepa But anyway i was going to start with getting a brand new plastic one from clarke, but i was wondering if there is a better priced for one. it is 200 for one i'm looking to buy. im also planning on turning my 200x into a 500r, and i need an engine, so anyone out there with a link to one, even if it is blown up or needs repairs, PLEASE hook me up. i'm looking to put like 2000 into this thing, but i want it to look good, not shitty. i'll get some pics of what i got so far and post them tomorrow. thanks!:TrikesOwn

The 200X is not a good base to build a 500R with.

I want through the same thing with the tank ,I tried everything and the leak always came back even after redkote I wound up buying a tank through ims unlike the Clark tank it accepts the shrouds and mounts the same way the original metal tank mounts .it's expensive and I had to make a rubber gasket (easy) for an easy fix , the tank is 275$ but I'm happy with it .

i know that the 200x is not a good base but i can weld, which means once i completely mount the engine, i can double up the frame and make it stable fabiodriven. plus im not gonna spend 3000 on a frame for the 250r.

if i were to end up wanting to do that i would buy a cr 250 and turn that into a trike. but that is the least of my concerns and it's at the bottom of my list of plans. or, i could buy a trx 450r and just turn that into a trike. on the plus side, if i did that then it wouldn't be two stroke and i can control it better than a 500 two stroke.

It's not just the frame, it's the suspension as well which is marginal with the original engine. Every month or so one of you guys come on here with the idea to cram giant engines in a sub-par frame. It's a bad idea and it doesn't work. Good luck.

Buy one of those chromoly 250r frames with the adjustable mounts and find a CR500 motor.

A 200x based 500r will snap like a twig under a steamroller.

i have found a banshee 350 engine, what would be the outcome of doing that?

I agree with Fabio and ATC185, DONT use the 200x as a donor. Its not built for that power or weight(frame strength, suspension, etc.). Stick to what works. 250r is really the only base you should put a cr500 motor in. As for the banshee motor same thing, other than I have seen a few in Tri-Z's with banshee motors in them. 250r's, Tri-Z's, Tecates are built for power and decent suspension. Also you might want to bump up your budget from 2K to 4-5K. Getting a cr500 motor alone with electronics, carb, exhaust, will be 2K. Plus cost of trike, repaint, rebuild, new parts, and a extended swingarm cause your gonna need one.

All in all do what you want but we are trying to steer you in the right direction so you dont spend the money and arent happy with the results.

3 grand on a frame were are you getting that price from. You can get decent 85-86 250rs for around $1500 complete. Realy nice ones for 2-3 grand complete. Using a 200x frame for a liquid 500r isn't going to look very nice hard to match gas tanks tank scoops over flow tank onto a frame that doesn't have a place for it to start with. But good luck with your adventure.

ok, my decision is final; you all think its a bad idea and yall are older than me so the opinions are better; i wont do the cr500 build on my 200x, but in the future i will end up doing something.
