Hey guys I have a 84 250r and a 200es! There is a 200x for sale here in Australia but it's like a 4 hour drive from where I live and it's a bit rough. Just wanting to see what you guys think of the 200x? Is it similar to the 200es or completely different in power? Don't want to drive all they way but without any information on the 200x
Thanks

The 200x was the first 4 stroke motocross type racing trike Honda made with full suspension and hydraulic front forks And is manual shifted plus has hydraulic brakes (your 200es front end is supposed to be suspension but most 200es front forks are frozen because they lack the lubricants they need. That's a flaw on Honda for the 200es.) Anyways back to the 200x. What year is it? 83-85 is first gen and then they changed the whole model and upgraded it in 86-87 with a 6 speed gear box (83-85 is a 5 speed). The 200x is some what fast but not as fast as the 250r... my 200x tops at 46 mph on the flats. ( my 200es only went 36 mph) the 200x models are kick start only. And I've heard the 86-87 top out around 55 mph ( I have yet to witness this).

The 200x models are pretty decent. The 86-87 is more rare than the 83-85.

Do you have pictures? If the engine is blown you can put almost any 200cc Honda engine in it!

I am 99.9% sure that is an 84. Ask the owner to look at the neck under the handle bars. There should be a sticker that says what year it is

it would be a relatively easy project where it's mostly complete. a great addition to the collection and ATC prices are only going up in value just my opinion of course and I may be a little biased as I'm in the process of building my '85 200x

Ivan,
that 200x was a very good price, I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. had I not already had a few toys in the shed I would have been there in a shot.

Jake
We're about in vic are you, I've seen a few Tri Zs come up for sale over your way, and would have picked them up if they were closer. It's annoying seeing good buys pop up 4000klm from were you live.

Sure, at 2500 it's probably a good buy, but at the end of the day it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and what the seller wants to to get for it.

It's rare, and looks to be in good nick. It's not 100% original, but it is a very nice example. I've seen them go for more, others for less.

If you buy it, dibs on a ride. Last time I rode an 86 200x was in 1986[emoji3]

One in Melbourne and one near wodonga, both under 3k. I picked up an 87 T3 near wodonga, a few years back. Sold it to Aussieduner. He restored it, but I think he sold it afterwards. He painted the frame blue if I recall correctly.

Old school 200x, covered in cool stickers of the day, as we used to do.

Doesn't look like a rider? As the add states, it needs a restoration. I think that fuel tank is a goner, so you'll be up for a plastic Clarke tank, and new plastics. Looks like it's got an old school aftermarket muffler on it.

The 86 is a much better proposition if you can get it for under 3

The prices people think that trikes are worth never ceases to amaze me. $5900 for a 200x? I highly doubt that. It would have to have been one mofo nice 200x for $5900. There's been a pristine 85 on gumtree in Newcastle for ages and that buyer was asking $5k and I'm not sure he even got that.

$5900 is pushing 250r money. As good as 200x's are, they ain't no 250r.

That deceased estate 85 200x is priced ok, but like I said, It doesn't run! And the tank is gone, if you can get the 86 in Joondalup for under 3, it's a much better proposition. You'll easily burn up another 1500 bucks getting that 85 up to speed.

Yeah prices are getting crazy! I paid $2000 for a 84 250r running! As you said, I won't be buying the 200x, looks like too much work, if it was an easy fix, why would you fix it before you try to sell it! The one in Joondalup looks good, I might go have a look on it at the weekend! I have too many bikes ha ha ha
