Hey guys, I'm looking at a black and gold 225 DR and the seller says it's missing the reverse lever. Is this something I can easily get or maybe fab up? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

242067242068242069 Here's what you're looking at. Sorry that the last two are blurry, I was trying to get a closeup. The reverse lever itself is probably fairly simple. The (faded) red part on the lever itself is the complicated part. You pull up on this to release a stop on the bottom part in order to shift either way. You may be able to fab this all up. I know I couldn't. You may be able to get it to work without the the stop (safety part), but I'd be worried that it would try to bounce into reverse while riding. It will only go into reverse from first, but who knows what could happen? That being said, I wouldn't let that be a deterrent from buying it, especially if you're getting a good deal. Who knows, you may be able to use this to get it a little cheaper too. Even if you can't find a used one right now, someday you'll find one.

It's pretty rough and doesn't have a title. I was thinking $3-400. But idk if he'd take it or not.

Make sure reverse works, someone may have removed the lever, because it doesn't.

They are cheap enough to find. Timberwolf, bear tracker, moto 4 reverse levers will all work.

Have you tried to see if they're available from Yamaha? Good chance they are.

I had the exact same issue when I bought my DR last month (black and gold too :p). I bought an entire used lever assembly on eBay for $60. It was originally on a Bear Tracker (it's the same OEM part number for your DR). Bolted up perfectly and works just fine.
