Reverse on 250es Big Red

Picked up an 85 250es. Took some work to get it up and running. Had the typical shifting issues and previous owner pulled the cover off the wrong side. I pulled the other cover and replaced the sheared shift pin and now shifts great. My concern is now it goes into reverse without pushing the button on the bars. Just shift all the way down and your in reverse. Is there something that may have been bypassed to allow this to happen or is it worn parts or adjustment? I am not opposed to keeping it the way it is but the right way is always better.

Nevermind....I used the search option like I should have done before posting and wasting time and Flying W had posted about the reverse shaft and shows a pic and I realized I put spring in wrong. When I get a day off I will pull cover off and fix. Sorry for wasting time and internet gazigggabytes.
