Ok just picked up this 200x. Its missing some pieces but overall seems to be in decent shape. It has a xr200 lower and I believe head, because has the decomp setup. Should be a fun project!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170510/0522139a1a508a6fc45b5fac87544b36.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170510/86cfa0800e499b31b06890d665a24ae6.jpg

Does anyone have pictures of there decomp hooked up. Im guessing i will need some hardware near the kicker. Also will i have to trim my fender to kick it back?

the rear fender comes off by sliding the lever at the back it takes litterly 2 seconds so just slide it back kick it then put it back in place dont chop your plastics

The only piece i have not been able to find is the decompression rod. This has a 12.5:1 piston. Am i going to want that decomp working or will it still be easy to kick?

Well your leg has a lot more power than your arm. Easy is a relative term. When I did the top end on my 350X, I went with stock compression. This is my only comparison. When cold, it kicks easy. Not so much when hot. They are known for kickback when hot. The 400ex carb mod made it a lot easier to kick start when hot. I said that because it has less compression that yours does. If it's all ready to go, why wait for one part? I'd get it going and then you can find out if you need the decompression or not. It can always be added when the engine's on the trike. One last thing. With 12.5:1 compression, I'd highly recommend only kicking it while wearing motocross boots. The steel shank can be a life (or foot) saver. Once, I thought I broke my ankle from a kickback on the 350X. Even with stock compression, I'll never ride it without them again after that.

Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately it needs more than just that. Alot of small parts missing. Im also worried about the part in the rocker cover rattling. Ill add motorcross boots to the list.

Also since the rear brake pedal mounts to the forward kicker cover, im not sure how to setup a back brake.

People have modified 350X brake parts to work on their Autox's. It should work with your 200"XR".

I'm new here to this site and new to the ATC and my 84 200X that I was given to pay off a debt was missing a bunch of stuff also but, it did fire up first kick after I replaced the float bowl gasket.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you come across your 200x?

Ebay is my prime source for parts these days. Sad to say.

Well, i recieved the mounts just slow to ship no tracking info given, just showed up one day.

I also bought another 200x roller with engine out. No mounts with that one either, wtf. So now i have 2 almost complete rollers with motors and 2 extra frames, swingers w/axles, and forks and some misc parts.

The rear brake pedal setup for a motor w/o that particular sidecover (200x kicker) isn't too bad to make. That part that rotates behind the kicker is linked to another part that swings on a frame boss behind the right footpeg. I removed the linkage rod and the front part and then got a 350X rear brake pedal and cut off the collar where it hinges and then welded that to the rear piece of linkage on the 200X (that swings on frame boss, not motor boss.

This is what 350for350 is talking about. This is my son's 200X with an Estart Lifan in it. If you can see thru the mud, you'll see I welded a 350X pedal to the 200X rear link. Might be hard to tell cuz that boy never washes his @*#!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170527/7281b6529360c197284f8b58ac59fdce.jpg

So got engine in the roller its extremely hard to start. It got a new china carb as i didnt have any oems.

Its got good spark, my question is when doing a compression check do i just kick it once or twice? If i kick more than once it seems to just build pressure on the gauge?

I put all "new" china electrical in it also.

Any help with the hard starting would be appreciated.

Kick it until the gauge stops. Also make sure you are holding the thumb throttle wide open.

Not my best pictures but you can see how I used 350X brake pedal parts, pivoting on the 200X frame/peg mounts, to have a back brake on my 200X with Chinese engine.

This was an excellent trail trike and probably a good duner for somebody 1/2 my size.

Are you getting fuel to the combustion chamber? Is your plug wet?

Lbox
12-13-2018, 01:39 AM
Yes ive had it running. It takes about 30 mins of kicking to get it running

if you buy and find rubbers drill a hold in them, then drill a hole in the tank mount and tread it. insert an counter sunk screw then. it stops the rubbers from falling off, because thats why you have none, they fell off lol!

Yeah so that’s not right, it should fire on first kick if the carb is metering fuel properly. I would get an OEM carb and a shindy rebuild kit with a new Keihin pilot and main from jets r us.
