This site's navigation and lack of categories is frustrating, as is the 2 month waiting period to get to the classifieds.

I have an '85 250r. One of the pegs is bent. I don't want to buy those huge ugly aftermarket pegs, I want the machine to be mostly stock. What are my options? I'm told '86 and '85 had different pegs - then another thread says they are the same - then some threads say TRX250 pegs will fit - others say an adapter is needed.

Also- what is the stock bend of the 250r handlebars? Is this bend similar to OEM? I don't want the aftermarket renthal crap

With all the 250r restoration threads, there should at least be a sticky for (a) crossover parts from TRX250 and (b) a list of OEM specs so we know what we're looking for when some of us are on the hunt to restore/repair our machines.

Those bars in that link are not even close to being 250r bars. I am a big fan of the stock bars on an atc and most of the ones I have bought are from someone parting a trike out on ebay. Just beware, they are all listed as "Strait" but almost never are.
There was a guy selling new reproduction bars on ebay that looked pretty good. The price wasn't bad. More than used ones, but less than the renthals. The Renthals just don't look right to me on a trike and I also don't like having a cross bar on a trike.
There are two sellers on ebay that I trust for trike parts, although I haven't been in contact with either one for a while, it might be worth a search. One is "cycle guy 79" (or it might be 75). The other one is "Clean motorsports". Both these guys know witch parts are the right ones and won't screw you. Clean motorsports is a member here, he goes by "Mr. Clean".

Looks like a good deal to me.

I agree that it would be frustrating to have to wait to see classifieds. When I get any new machine, I'm buying stuff for it within 24hrs and I think it hurts potential sales in here to keep new members waiting for too long. I hope they can figure something out in that respect.

One way to ensure you get attention would be to just start a new post in new members section for "WTB 85-86 250R footpegs".....all of us veteran members can still see your post and respond with offers if anyone has what you need. It may take a thread bump or two occasionally because liquid R stuff is in hot demand and sometimes scarce. Lots of guys here would love to take your money for their parts so you'll achieve the same results.

We DO need more of an organized Reference Section with stickies and there are interchange threads on a number of machines but they aren't catalogued and the search function is a bit tedious for me, at least, unless I know the specific thread title. The problem is that the place is a bit short-staffed and the staff have day jobs and family stuff so they don't have alot of time. If I had the time to volunteer here myself just to do this, I would but I don't.

86 pegs are different from 85 but either will work on the same machine.

KASEY did this thread over at .org that has pics of the difference so you can know what you're buying ahead of time because eBay sellers mis-ID stuff all the time.

Here are some reproduction oem handlebars a seller sells on eBay. I've bought from him before and his parts are quality!
