hi all just picked up my first trike and as usual joining my first group relating to my newest find lol...

i picked up a 1984 125m and cant seem to get it into gear. when i bought it i was told second gear doesnt work but first and third are fine. since replacing the rear bearings for the axle I've come to realize i cant get it into gear at all... is there a tear down manual somewhere for opening the transmission up to look at the gears etc? is it hard to open? figured i would ask before blindly wrenching away and breaking something else lol

Look online there’s a ton of part outs and very cheap service manuals

Don't be like that, it won't go well.

Alrighty. Let's try this again.

Welcome.

Service manuals are a very good resource. They include not only the exact procedures for inspection and repair, but also offer several tips and hints as to how to go about things as you use their information.

Very common problem with that model , most likely not a transmission problem , the shift drum stopper is either broken , loose or the boss that holds it to the case is broken , pull the right side clutch cover off and inspect , you will be looking at the top left side .

Sorry lol that’s what I always have done I am a owner of 11 trikes and have done that for all manuals. I do not own that model so I was just suggesting

Welcome Rob,

Good job on the custom tool....I went through the same process you are experiencing now, a couple years back on my first 125m. Here's the link, maybe it will help.

I did get the manual at that time...it was very helpful, and in the case of my honda atc knowledge, I might say it was essential lol.

Anyway, keep us posted on your progress....the 125 is a fun little trike.
