I purchased the hose probably 12 years ago. I gave $500 for it then. I haven't seen one come up for sale since. I know there is a guy selling reproduction ones on eBay for $100. Thanks for your replies.

Personally I'd be surprised if you got your money back. That's a lot for a brake line. I don't know if a whole NOS caliper would net that much.

Are you sure you didn't mean $50?

Haha. It's a NOS one still in the original package. Valuable to those doing a 100 % correct and original restoration. These are near impossible to find.

Well let's look at this from an Economics standpoint...'cause everyone loves economics.

Some facts:
1. This brake line could be purchased in 1986 for $55.13 which is the manufacturers suggested retail price.
2. According to the consumer price index (Adjusted for yearly inflation of GDP), $55.13 has a present buying power of $123.10, but this isn't really fair because manufacturer's must obtain OEM inventory 10 years after model release (which means you could buy this from Honda until 1996...likely even longer). So, instead of 1986 we need to use 1996 and we end up with present buying power of $87.38.
3. You purchased that hose 12 years ago (or so) which means it should have cost ~$70.27 (maybe a little more because of nostalgic purposes).
4. Now we come to the law of supply and demand. I have been rebuilding R's for some time and the last NOS brake line I saw went for around $200.00 which seems fair as it is $76.90 worth of "nostalgia"...I'll buy that. 12 years ago those lines were way more plentiful than they are today, but they still exist.

Here is an opinion...
If you really bought that for $500.00 12 years (or so) ago, you make way more cheddar than me and if you find someone crazy enough to pay that then good for you cause it ain't worth it. There's a reason re-pops exist.

Probably around $200.00 max, and you would likely have a very hard time selling it for that price.

I found one for another member here around 6 months ago for $36.00.
