Hello everyone, i need help badly. Okay so here it goes, i just rebuilt my trike because it was smoking badly. I put new valves, valve seals, cam chain and rings in it. I put it all back together and it ran great, i did the first heat cycle and let it cool down completely. I went out to re-start it and i broke the pull rope, it seems like the motor is really tight now and i don't know why it is like that :wondering. It was a breeze to pull over before the rebuild, now im just wondering if i did something wrong, or is it like this because of the new parts? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it hard to pull all the time or only on the compression stroke?

Thank you for the reply, it's only on the compression stroke. Once i pull the first three inches or so out of the recoil it's not too bad, it just seems really tight to me. I also have a hard time getting it to fire up now, it used to be a one pull wonder, now i crank and crank on it and only get it to pop. That was before thw recoil rope decided to snap :(.

is the compression release hooked up?

Yeah it works, im just wondering if maybe i didn't put it in time correctly. Im familiar with the cam timing but not the pulser rotor timing.

Having it out of time wouldn't do that but, just for good measure to adjust the timing line the "F" mark on the flywheel to the mark on the case and then line up the line on the rotor with the line on the pulse generator.

Okay thank you for the advice, how do i go about setting the gap on the pulse rotor? Mine appears to have a fairly large gap, i didn't think to look at it before i tore it apart.

the gap should be about .020 I think but i'm not positive try adjusting your valves to .003 and see if that does anything.

The trike is fixed, thank you 125mmadness. I followed exactly what you told me to do and it's now running like a top. once again thank you so much.

So did you figure out what it was? Rotor timing, valves? This is for my curiosity and maybe someone else will learn from it too.
