I am just wondering but has anyone put a tachometer on a 84 200x to know how high their engine is revving while they are riding?

No.

When I had my 200Xs, the answer was always "A lot". I spun the piss out of them.

I tried one of these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A43PKLW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_25?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A867P1BBKCZM8)on my Tecate but could not get it to work. Did not work on my lawnmower either so I assume it's bad.

I ordered another (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXRVC1I/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_21?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3H902APB405W5). $7 is cheaper than returning the red one.

If it doesn't work, I'll try one of these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ACDP6YU/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_27?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2FSIHHQGP7DBY).

They all "should" work.

Shift early, shift often. Oops 350x.....how's the top end power on a 200x?

I have used these before with good results on 4 stroke Honda trikes.
RPM's don't fall off quite as quick as the Hondaline tachs,,, but still very acceptable and easy to read.
