View Full Version : Why ATC 70?

I had a Honda three wheeler back in the 80's when I was a teenager (looking for the pics to post) and I remember wanting a 350x really bad when they came out. Anyways, I just picked up an '83 110 (traded it for a $50 .22 long rifle) and got the bug again. It seems like most of the work I will need is cosmetic if I want it to look nice, but it starts on the first pull and everything is there. My question is, why is the ATC 70 sought after? I can understand the 250R and 350x, but then again, like I said, just getting back into it. I ask because I know where one is and debating why to go get it or search for a 250r.

Thanks buds and I look forward to contributing to info on this forums!

So for kids, it's great. What is model is a good platform to modify? There are quite a few ATC's around this area (350x's a pretty penny, no 250r within a days drive) but I would like something I could be more aggressive riding. The 110 I will keep original (unless it could be modified to pump some action out) for my youngest son, but want to start working on something for him to graduate into when he's ready.

I've seen plenty of 200x. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. If you ever need anything, get a hold of me, I'll do what I can to help you out.

The pit bike craze made the 70's real popular. Plus at the time (10 years ago or so) they were dirt cheap. Now they seem to be way over priced.

Ya Ive seen some atc 70s that are worth over $2000 that is cdn tho. But I saw two of them that were in parts that were still worth $1000. Like I think itd be fun to buy one just to build it up all real nice like you see them or make them custom.

You could turn your 105cc 110 into a 180cc Alcohlol burning monster.....

I don't see what there is to debate.

Zingers are okay but there is a reason they are capped at 80 pound max rider. The axles are so puny an adult riding it could easily bend the axles. A honda 70 can lug an adult around and not turn it into a piece is trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro in an afternoon

Why would you want a modded 110 when you can just buy a bigger engine for much less money?

Glad you had a good time with them, still doesn't mean they are as durable as a 70 or as easy to get replacement parts for them. Zingers don't have the aftermarket support for parts like a Honda 70

And now we'll return back to the thread.

Buy every 70 you can find and you'll be able to a) flip it easily for a profit, or b) save it for your own kids, or c) ride it as an adult all day long trouble free. A great priced 70 thats complete is around $350, a good price is $500 and no meat left on the bones is $800-1000 around here.

I agree with Bob Marlin...the pit bike craze definitely made a big impact and then people started adding larger motors. I had a 1985 ATC 70 when I probably weighed 70 pounds and it was plenty fast, but even when I weighed 140+ in high school, it was still a fun little bike:). They are very well made and put together bikes and fun to ride with your kids...wish I still had mine, but sold it when it wasn't as popular:(.
