200X CRF 230 engine question

New to the forum & back in dirt after a 20 year hiatus (Ive ridden a Harley since graduating HS).
Picked up a 84 Honda atc 200x.
Am very interested in swapping in a CRF 230 engine.
What years do/don't work (if any don't?) ?
Ive seen stories about CRF engines from 2003-2008 being used. Would an 09 work/not?

I likely am, & would like to keep a Honda engine in it.
