1985 atc 250r. Just rebuilt my top end with a 68.50 big bore, port and polish from bdt motorsports. And a Boysen reed block. Stayed with pump gas didnt want to deal with race fuel. I have a fatty fmf exhaust (probably needs new packing) . Stock carb bored to 36mm. (I have plans for a 38 or 39 mm but cant afford atm). I have a nology spark plug hotwire and dont know if it matters a wiseco billet clutch basket. I would like to run stock box and lid due to mostly dune riding. Uni air filter.
Elevation is about 3000ft
Temp for winter 30f to 80f
Summer 50f-115f

Current main jet is a 180( bdt recommended 170-172. 180 was on hand).
Pilot is 52
Airscrew 1.5 turns out.
Stock need 4th clip from top

Can't get past 1/3 throttle before bogs and loses powerband. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Currently going through break in process.

.
The word bog is utterly meaningless when attempting to describe how an engine performs.

Take a high resolution photo of the plug from fairly close and post it.

White is way lean

Lite tan is typically close.

Dark brown is typically too rich but could also be burning oil.

1. When it "bogs'', does it hesitate somewhat and burble/run rough for a second or more?

2. Does it hesitate like it is out of gas but does not burble?

3. What is the compression when you kick it over quickly 3 times in a row with the throttle wide open?

Put the clip on the needle in the middle.

with airbox/lid I would run a 164 Main, 48 pilot and clip 3rd from top.
