Just picked up a ‘85 200x. My clutch is slipping and decided to replace the clutch plates. Anyone have good advice on what to do/not to do. Also looking for a headlight and taillight. Keep getting outbidded on eBay.

Do use the right tool to take the clutch nut off.
Do soak the plates in oil overnight before installing.
Do use a copper penny to jam between the primary drive gears and hold the clutch hub while using the correct tool to take the nut off.
Do inspect the steel plates and replace if needed. Although I almost never do. I do bead blast them, however.
Do download a manual and use it if you have not already.

It's been a while but I think you'll need an impact screw driver to get the screws off the oil slinger. JIS instead of regular Philips tips help.
Also, an impact wrench makes short work of the clutch nut.

Thanks for the info. Next warm day that I’m off I’m going to tackle the clutch.

New springs and smooth any deep grooves from the basket.

Hit send on accident but the clutch kit came with new plates and springs. Soaked the clutch plates for a couple of hours before installing. Hope that was long enough. When I went to install the case I be screwed up the clutch actuator spring somehow. I ordered a new one. And am going to wait till it comes in to put everything back together. So if the clutch packs need to soak longer I can take the basket back apart. What do you guys think
