Post office will NOT ship anything over 70lbs. Find a box that will fit the rear end. They will charge you extra for having them box it up.

i wouldnt think that axel weighs any ware near 70 LBS so i think he will be fine. but yes its shiped by size and weight so it might cost a bit being its prolly pretty heavy. if it does indeed way more then 70 LBS you could alwase break it down a bit and ship it all in seprate boxes, that would also work to your advantage.

I have shipped a 185s rearend (with chain guard attached) for about $20 through UPS. Just box it up and UPS or USPS will take it.

I bet I have shipped over 30 axles like this.
That axle shouldn't weigh more than 35-40 lbs. The best way to ship it would be to find or make a box that is fits in. You will want to have at least 4-5 layers of cardboard ( not counting the box ) to protect the ends of it. You can use 2 pieces of wood for the same result ( 1 piece on each end ). Just be sure what ever you use covers the whole inside end of the box. This Helps keep the box crush proof. ;)

Also, For this heavy of a item UPS or FedX will be a lot cheaper than the post office ( in the US ).

Thanks

Yup make sure that the ends of the axle are covered so they don't poke out of the box (one sent to me was packaged poorly and was sticking out :? ). Instead of cardboard one idea is to use plastic disposable food containers from like sour cream/dip and tape em on with a ton over the ends with a ton of tape. Light, cheap, and easy 2 do.
