I have just recently rebuilt the top end on my 1980 110, got all the timing down, it starts and runs but if you punch the gas real fast and let go the bike gets kinda stuck on a high idle and wont return to a good idle speed. I have cleaned to carb and thinking about buying one of those cheap carbs on ebay to see if that will help..... any help is appreciated, thanks Nick.

Could be a few things that can cause that symptom of a hanging idle . air leak at the manifold or at the air box tube , half dirty main jet , improperly adjusted air fuel mix screw , improperly adjusted Points and points timing plate , carb needle not set correctly or loose / missing clip , throttle cable route or adjustment / to tight .
Lots to check out .

I put my bet on an air leak.

I'm still learning when it comes to DIY engine work, but my ATC110 behaved exactly like that when it had an air leak at the intake manifold gasket.

I’ve had good luck with cheap after market carbs over all. I’ve had bad luck too but on my 85 ATC70 the cheap carb worked like a dream. I’d recommend trying it because it’s so cheap and all the components are new. Mikuni makes some better, slightly more expensive versions. I’ve had good luck there too
