YT125H pull starter mystery

Hi all,

My recently aquired 81 YT125H is missing its pull starter (that is the cover, including the recoil spring mechanism, rope, handle, etc - the lot :rolleyes: ). Starting involves winding a rope around the basket, which works, but it painful.

I have been looking literally everywhere for a replacement. I am in AUstralia, but have been all over the USA sites with nothing found as yet. I have restored a number of other old, rare bikes and never has it been so difficult to find what I need.

Do these fall off and rust away instantly perhaps? :lol: Just a couple of questions that I hope might help me narrow down my search:

- Is the starter from the 82-85 YT125's the same as the 80-81 models?

- Is the YT175 starter the same or different?

- Does anyone have one that they wish to sell me? :D

Hey Pez , as far as I know the 125’s are all the same, the 175’s recoils are painted black where as the earlier 125 are unpainted grey metal.I have interchanged the starters between the two and they worked fine.
They do come up on eBay every now & then, but never last long, not sure why they are so hard to find.Both my trikes recoils are in great condition for 30+ years.
