Does anybody know if the kick start ratchet spring (28253-KA2-000) from an XR200R will work on an 84 200X?

There's a kick start upgrade kit on Ebay right now for the 84 200X but it's $549....

I am using the Xr200 spring in my 84! It has just ever so slightly a taller profile making it a tad if any stiffer!
Hope this helps!

I know people have stretched the original spring to provide a little less slippage. Having a longer spring should be ok.

Do you remember what year XR200 the spring was for?

The xr ratchet spring will work but it’s no different than the original 200x spring that was recalled for being to weak , the xr had less issues because it has a decompression setup .

Well that’s good to know. Any idea where to get one of the beefed up springs.

On a side note, I think I read somewhere that you back cut gears, is that true?

Back cutting the gears will work for about a week until the first time it kicks back and chews off the new teeth , I’ve never herd of anyone successfully doing it and having it last , HD spring is the correct fix .

Best place to find one? Or am I stuck paying $550 to buy the above kit for 1 stupid spring?

The HD springs have been obsolete for 20 years and that’s why you see that high price tag .
I sell the upgraded kits but don’t sell the springs individually anymore because the whole setup needs replaced to fix the problem anyway , I have a lot of time and money invested in finding them .
If you need a kit Pm me for a price .
