klt kicked out of barn

found an 81 klt 200 in the weeds next to a dairy barn. farmer said "take it! one less thing i have to load in the dumpster" yea, like there will EVER be a dumpster on a dairy farm! looks to be all original all complete. rusty and no spark but restorable. the manual said points but there is a cdi. If anyone knows what engine is correct, please let me know. the set up manual (yea, found some books on ebay)the engine is correct, which is kz200ae 060633. book says it starts with kz200ae 037700. was someone trying an upgrade? i am a nube so cant post on some threads

The 1981 KLT 200 A1 has points, the 1981 KLT 200 A2 has CDI (like all models after). I assume yours is the A2.

Check your VIN. The 81 A2 is JKALTNA1*BB508601 to 517088

great. thanks for the info. i will check the #,s today. makes sense with the manuals as well. the fork color and chrome pieces are throwing me off a bit

let me know if you need any of the electrical I had an a4 that the guy I sold it to time bombed the motor and I ended up with it back for nothing. long story short I stripped it down and kept anything of value from it
