Im running a 200 jug, 10.25:1 piston, ported head, oval ported 26mm carb, a mild cam, and a 40% reduction on 25s. Im stumped on which cam i should run. I want top end power put i dont want to lose my lowend grunt. Used mainly for fast paced trail riding and mudding.

Ive attached i picture of cams offered by both megacycle and web cam. Lets hear yalls experience and opinions

I used the 143-20NS Megacycles grind on a 200X. Huge improvement overall. I don't feel like I lost any noticable bottom end with that cam

143-20NS thats the needle bearing setup right? Is it worth the extra change. When I called and talked to megacycle the lady seemed to think the needle bearings were a bit excessive.

I sprang for that setup ($600 all told) because I was building a high rev flat track/tt purposed ATC200X... For aggressive trails and mudding, the standard 143-20 cam should be more than enough as long as you keep the oil changed and filter screen clean. Those little 200s can become starved for oil on the topend pretty easily if you don't take care of your machine and the cam suffers the most

Edit to add, I also rode that machine in the woods after I changed the chassis/tire setup so I could trail ride at Trikefest. I can assure you that the cam was also well suited for aggressive woods riding (Haspin Acres terrain which is very diverse and fairly technical in places)

Sweet ive been leaning toward either the 143-20 or the 143-40, but im afriad of going too big. Know anyone running web cams particularly the 172 grind (.395 lift) or the 214 grind (.375 lift). I keep getting mixed reviews curious if anyone actually runs it.

The 395 lift cam has always been a good all around performance cam and in combination with a high compression piston will make plenty of bottom end power still .
When you jump up to the 435 lift you need a 12-1 compression piston to get its full potential and your into the realm of full race performance .
Imo the 395 is the way to go for a peppy trail rider .

Sweet, thanks shortline. im curious I have a nos set of rockers i saw web cam offers hard facing. Is it necessary or just overkill?

I raced a 200x for 4 seasons back in the 1980s and put a lot of hard race hours with a 435 megacycle cam and never had a stock OEM rocker fail . We did change the oil after every race day so I’m sure that helps .

The guy at Megacycles told me it wasn't necessary on a 200X when I asked about hard facing mine.

After about a hundred hours of beating on it, I got to see the rockers and they looked great. We did run a zinc additive in the oil, though
