Hello friends! I've been trying to hold out and wait for a nice gen 3 R to fall in my lap locally but haven't had much luck. The last two that were posted on Facebook market place sold within hours and I was too slow. :(

Anyways... There is a pretty nice (looks good in photos) 84R for sale close to me. Appears to have been garage kept it's whole life. The add says it's all original except for the handle bars. Lol. Has a crack in the back plastic that doesn't scare me much. Nice tires. Has a dent in the gas tank that looks like it would be easy to pull out. I messaged the seller with a couple questions. Most importantly if the tank was clean. It's been listed for a while and the add says they have come down from 4k to 3000. I asked them what their best price was. Still waiting to hear back. But I'm wondering if you guys could tell me around about what a realistic price is. 3k in my mind is a bit high for a 2nd gen but maybe I'm wrong? I know something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Haha. But I'm really wanting to scratch that 2-stroke trike itch. Should I hold out for an 85-86?

Thanks for any and all input. This is my first post so you'll have to forgive me...I've been creeping on the sight for a while and really enjoying it!

3k is to high for an 84 model unless it’s really nice .
I good rider with dented tank and broken plastics IMO should be around 2200 .

Not bad. There is more unoriginal on that bike than the bars. Take a compression tester with you and if it’s in the acceptable range I would give ~2200 for it.

Yeah, it looks pretty mint. I'd be curious to know which owner they are, how long they've owned it and what's all been done to it.
