Howdy Gents!

I have a ticking/pinging noise coming from my 250sx engine. Using the stethoscope, it appears to be coming from the camshaft area. I already adjusted the valves to .003". Still had noise. Has anyone had experience with this noise before i tear the engine down and start using the mic?

UPDATE: I should have used the search button first... It appears cam chains tend to make these noises. I'm going to start teardown.

Second question

The 250R I notice the chain is super tight. I found a manual that says there is a swing arm adjuster but mine does not have a slotted swing arm pivot mounting hole. Not sure how to slacken up the chain without one besides adding a link or two. Guy I bought it from said the trike was lowered in the rear. Shock mounts on the transmission mount in the rear. I can upload pictures if needed.

Thanks!

The 1983 250R have a plate next to the bearing carrier, right next to the sprocket (between the bearing carrier and the sprocket) This is where you adjust the the chain tension - obviously releasing the bolts under the bearing carrier first.
