86 250r rear shock direction

Hi Guys,
Just had my shock rebuilt and in the process of reinstalling, the parts diagram shows the pipe work for the dampener reservoir outlet faces towards the rear of the machine. When installed like this it is fouling the air box connection to the frame. I am thinking the shocks reservoir pipe should be facing forward is this correct.

If I am understanding correctly, what you are asking, then yes, with the shock mounted correctly, the reservoir line bolts to the front side of the shock.
