This is just a question to all u old time members that haven’t been here for a while cause of bookface.It's the instant notification and instant gratification that make Facebook appealing. Plus you can go from trikes to vinyl records all on the same platform. It's kind of a one stop shop and we all got lazy.

Honestly for me it was the effectiveness of the blocking features on Facebook that hooked me originally.

If I didn't want to see people, I *really* didn't have to. Here, unfortunately, too easy to use a VPN, re-register accounts, deal with the moderation, etc.

The mobile usage on Facebook and the ease in uploading and sharing pictures and content in that way was a lot easier and faster.

Then overtime as it got more populated, there was more content to consume there, kinda like bkm is saying, so then it wasn't just to catch up with trikefest people, it was welding groups, motorcycle groups, politics, family, etc. etc...

Certainly given me somethings to contemplate though, all the recent events.

Facebook overall, I think. This never happened to me, but my understanding is that FB aggressively started editing (removing / blocking) people's posts. Say for example I posted "Don't vote for candidate B. He is going to eliminate blue collar pipeline jobs and promote lawlessness by opening borders to illegals". An hour later that post could be covered or blocked with a message something like:
"This post removed because independent fact checkers determined it was false or misleading information."
This censorship was very one (left) sided, according to most.
The straw that broke the camel's back may have been when the sitting POTUS had his account blocked / deactived on Twitter.

This had zero affect on me personally since I don't share my political opinions on any social media platforms.
Actually, it did have one affect which is increased activity on this side, so that is a positive change for me.
So I continue to have a FB account and I continue to either ignore, not notice, or not be bothered by any political content that may exist there.

And maybe I am wrong, but I continue to not care that they edit and censor content to fit their own agenda.
I'm reminded of something an old friend told me years ago. I asked if why it didn't bother him to watch NFL when he clearly knows the games are fixed.

It was as Keister said fake book in general. However, there are groups on there dedicated to trikes. But they suck! each one is dominated by a few. These few decide how things are. They constantly "shill" others and demean people. They seem to each have some click of ppl who are unaccepting of others ideas and tease and make light of others who do not have as much cash to sink into a project. another bad aspect is that there are no archives at all. The only way to find old info is to scroll and scroll forever till you maybe find what you had seen days previous. for almost any type of activity, there is a group on fake book. but these type of old sites are so much better for developing a good community weather it be trikes or anything else. Just better platforms. Facebook is a platform used to steel your info, track you and advertise to you. They do this under the guise of being what most think they are. what is worse, is those that know this use it anyway. Including me....

I went off cold turkey and all was great... Then it snowed,like 5 feet. I had around 50 sleds that had grown roots here thanx to no snow for ages. I went to throw them on Cl like old days and quickly realized ol Zuckerberg had me by the short ones. I was IRATE. To realize he even controls the used classified market now,and make no mistake, he does. So, I bowed down and sold ten or so sleds for free, for now. Im actually amazed that any adult would like Facebook. To start, the name sounds dumb as could be and,it was designed for high school kids. When Facebook started, the kids that liked the "look at me, look at me, I just took another step" life got hooked on it and stayed on it. Then, parents that wanted to poke into their kids lives got on it and decided they wanted everyone to look at them and like a plague, here we are. Now people think you have to be on it to find or do anything. In a Facebook blog post, the tech company said it was aware of the issue and that the stolen data — including phone numbers, birth dates and, in some cases, email addresses — was a result not of hacking, but of “scraping.”

“It is important to understand that malicious actors obtained this data not through hacking our systems but by scraping it from our platform prior to September 2019,” the blog post reads.

Scraping is a “common tactic,” Facebook said, which “often relies on automated software to lift public information from the internet and can end up being distributed in online forums,” as was the case with the recently reported 2019 hack.

“We believe the data in question was scraped from people’s Facebook profiles by malicious actors using our contact importer prior to September 2019. This feature was designed to help people easily find their friends to connect with on our services using their contact lists,” Facebook said.

The company added that it had fixed the contact importer, and it is “confident” that a problem “no longer exists.”

Facebook did not respond to a direct request for further comment by the time of publication.

A spokesperson told Reuters that Facebook does not plan to notify the more than 530 million people who’s data was scraped.

Per Reuters, the spokesperson said the company was “not confident it had full visibility on which users would need to be notified” and that “users could not fix the issue.”

There is a way to check if you were one of the users who’s data was scraped.

All you have to do is input your email address or phone number to the website HaveIbeenpwned.com, and it will inform you whether you’ve been subject to a security breach. The method works only if you were one of the users whose phone number or email were stolen, however.
