1984 200X help

Before I start twisting and beating on things I am not familiar with, how do I correctly remove my front axle from the hub? I am trying to replace the bearings.

If the front tire/rim/hub combo is off of your trike, then the axle should just slide out. I did say "should" because a lot of times there is some rust inside the hub and then the axle removal "fun" starts.
