in the last 12 to 18 months I ended up with 4 185s atcs 2 titled, 3 runs and 1 project. I also picked up a nicely dressed 350x. So I was suppose to meet the kids after work to go on a ride. I decided to take a 185 and it since it's been parked for months and it runs lean, have to run the choke half open and popping out the intake. grabbed the other titled 185 and it's running crappy too. the last beater 185 seems to run the best, but no ohv sticker.
Then I'm thinking why waste my time with the hardtails. why not just keep the 350x and the 70 and get rid of all the 185s trikes, parts, motors etc. And still have 2 trikes and a lot more room.
I dumped all my 110 atc parts and projects a few years ago. Just have to convince myself this is a good idea. jim

All the time. I just bought a project 300r. Was going to swap all the goodies to my nice 84, make the 300's chassis stock, then sell it. Now I realize that will take more time than I have right now. So I guess I'll make the 300 nice. I have 5 250rs. Plus 30 or so bikes and other wheelers. Some days I want to sell them all. Some days, I want to sell a few, but I can't decide which. Still have a few more on my want list. It's only money right?

it's not so much just money, it's the lack of space. jim

As I get older I'm realizing less is more.

There's some things I miss that I have sold off but most not.

If mine were to go, each one would have to leave with all the spare parts for it too. I don't want to take the time to sell all that stuff piece by piece.

I'm not to that point yet. The 110 could go and I wouldn't care too much. Most of what I have didn't cost me much of anything to acquire over the years, and that's probably what keeps me from getting rid of any of them. I couldn't replace them for what they'd sale for.

I genuinely like to ride them. Easy to load, easy to maintain, easy on gas, easy to flip back over.

if I do decide to sell them, it's all going as a single package deal with all the motors, recoil, extra frame, axles etc. just keep the 70 and the 350 and quit looking for other trikes. jim

I've got 2 chevelles and a camaro so it's not like the trikes are my only hobby, also buy broken pistols and rifles and fix them too. (just bought a 1912 winchester 94 lever rifle to fix) jim

I sold my 75 ATC90 last month, just time for it to go, i also added two more 200's so i just needed the room. I sold a lot of stuff a few years ago, so now its just the 200E, 200ES, and 200 left, and we ride them so they are staying until i die at this point... LOL

I had a fleet of 13 that ran at once. It's too much, you never ride them all, one always needs somthing, waste of money trying to prove you have all this crap.

I sold off all high hp toys got into small stuff. I have more fun with machines thst just take fuel and a spark plug each year. I have 4 machines right now but each one different from the next. I'm over hoarding and constantly trying to find the deals that don't exist anymore due to covid prices.

Now you guys are sounding jaded. I only have one and want more. (I also have 3 squares, so the trikes need to at least catch up with em) You might miss em next time you want to go for a romp.

okay, prices seems crazy right now for everything.ive got 2 81 185s atcs with titles. 1 has a 200s motor that needs a tune up, im thinking the pulse generator spring is bad because it was missing and used a pen spring. also have another 185s with a 200s motor, have plastics seat pan etc tanks. also have a 185 project that's missing a seat pan, has compression. also there's a 85 200s frame with front suspension, a few extra gas tanks, pull starts, axles, 4 spare motors etc. I'm thinking maybe shoot for 2000. Not sure I'm going to do it yet. jim

went and stuck it all on craigslist. probably won't get a call but I can tell myself I tried. Jim

well, I guess these things aren't that popular here after all. got 2 calls, 1 guy showed up and offered 1500 for the whole lot. Probably should have taken the offer, but trying to find misc small parts and big parts I felt I would kick myself. So maybe just get the 2 titled trikes tuned properly, sell the beater running trike. Keep the parts to get the last 185 running. jim

been almost a month, had a few low offers, 1 guy said the ad was kind of confusing and pics weren't that great. had a leaky front tire on trike #3, installed a new front tire. Decided to order the throttle cable for trike #4 it's got a 200s front fork, going to swap a solid 185s fork with a 110 hub so it'll only have the rear brake. I'll get a group pic of the 4 trikes, and rewrite the ad.
Crazy thing is, like most of us into old trikes realize how much the small parts can add up when putting a trike together. So I was thinking my price wasn't out of line, just not too many three wheeler fans out there. jim

That makes me think that even if I wanted to, I probably couldn't. I don't do the F-book thing, stopped bothering trying to sell on C-list, and recently swore off selling on E-bay. The E-bay thing wasn't a big deal, because I don't sell much, but recently I had something sell that I completely forgot I even had listed. It was a small inexpensive thing, but still something I had to take the time to package and ship and I was low on time that day so had to put a rush on it. Buyer received the item and decided they didn't want it. I refunded their money and just let them keep it as I didn't want to bother with it again for basically no gain. Not a big deal at all, just a type of situation I really don't have time to bother with right now and don't care to again in the future. That, and E-bay now wants personal banking information and a SSN for managed payments; NOPE.

went out and worked on trike #4, im calling it my roadkill (motortrend TV show) Trike. found a 200x? thumb throttle, got a new cable installed. got a air cleaner installed, going to swap the air box back on as soon as I find the screws. got the rubber insulators on the tank and found a new petcock for it. Need to order a gas cap tonight, brake cables came in, not sure which forks and hub I'm planning installing. I don't have a seat pan, but do have a rear fender.

And I still want it to sell the collection, but I can't stand something not running so I keep buying a few parts here and there. Wife says it's crazy to spend money on them but not fixing them is a waste too. jim

project roadkill got the forks swapped to normal solid 185s forks, I didn't want to mess with the brake cable right now so bolted the wheel and 110 no brake hub on it. bungie strapped the seat on it. going to air up the tires and dtest it tonight.
no fenders, zip tied exhaust, no headlight, but it runs. jim

one down, 3 to go. project roadkill went to a new owner this morning. guy showed up, saw it run, paid for it and actually rode it home. Called later to get info so he can order new rings and gaskets.
might put up the next trike up for sale, this one doesn't have a title either, has a 85 200s motor in it. runs great, just needs seat foam and cover. jim

the trike hobby comes and goes for me, i always have 1 or 2. I'll get into my other hobbies and a year or two later, I'll find a beater trike and fix it up for a quick flip. This time there was a ton of cheap trikes for sale in a short time. Now that the kids go out with thier quads, it's fun to be able to ride with them. Now that I stepped up to a 350x. I feel I really dont need all these 185s.
I went to stare at the 200s frame I was going to scrap, and got to thinking about what it would take to make another roadkill trike.
3 tires, carb, chain,seat. jim

I bought another parts machine for $350 and started parting it. I noticed prices really falling in my area so if its under $500 and mostly there I take a truck ride.

I'd say valve seals/guides with the compression you have.

2 down! traded the no title 185s today. did some swapping parts I put the 200s tank on it, put the 185s tank on the titled trike. kept the cherry seat pan and cherry fiberglass rear fender. put the repaired seat pan, and lumpy seat on the no title trike and traded it off for a vintage .38 revolver.
down to 2 185s trikes. Both titled. jim

saw my old post and decided to update it a bit. was down to the 2 titled 185s trikes, got a 350x in a trade. still have the 70. Bought my old 200x frame back for half what I sold it for. traded for another 350x and had to buy a head off ebay for the cam. sold the 350x, traded the head for a suspended 185s project which is now running. also kept the 200s frame, bought 1/2 of a 200s that someone cut the back of the trike off. I put that motor and front end on the 200s frame. As I was advertising I needed 200s parts, got a guy that wanted my 200x frame. traded it for another 200s that's missing tires, but has decent plastics and a seat, motors supposed to run. guy threw in another 185s frame with motor and axles. And for a extra 50 bucks I got a 3rd project, another 185s with a welded in rear suspension and motor.
So this post started out about cleaning the yard and collection. now I'm up to 2 titled running 185s
1 suspended 185s, a 350x with title, 1 atc70, 2 200s projects, 185s project and lastly another 185s suspension project. so much for clearing out the yard. jim

I mentioned selling off my collection of mostly US90's and 70's and the kids gave me heck. I only use the 70's a few times a year and are pretty easy to bring back to life. The US90's just sit on shelves and are "ran when parked" models. The tri-x-side is still broke from last year and will be a project to get back up and driving....it's on the list. I really need to pull everything out and preserve it properly if it stands a chance to run 20 years from now.

And oops, I added a 1980's z50 mini bike to my collection recently. Like plastik...going the wrong way, lol.

Got a couple 110's that I'm getting ready to sell. Maybe one of them anyway...then thinking about putting some of the other projects togther.

Can't hardley cut down on the total number for some reason.
