I've owned an 87 250sx since I was 12. Grandparents bought it new for me and it's pretty much all original. I recently acquired an 86 250sx. It runs and drives. The 86 did not come with intake hose or carb hose to inbox. I noticed on my 87 there is an intake hole built into the frame but the 86 does not. Does it even use an intake hose or does it use the plastic piece like an 85 trx250. I've looked at all the airbox diagrams like at babbitts but 85 86 and 87 250sx all show the same parts.

I can say that both of my 85 SX's use that intake hose in your picture on the left. They attach to a hole in the frame just like your picture shows. Since that is a 87, I will assume that a 86 had the same set up. Is the hole hidden by the gas tank in your right picture?

No. The hole on the frame is non existent on the 86. The 87 has the hole in frame.

Wow I feel dumb...disregard this post. The real kicker is the 86 didn't come with a tank. That's the tank off my 87 I stuck on there to get it running. Fail.

Well that's certainly a new one for me. I wonder where the intake hose attaches on the 1986. I also why Honda changed it for 1986 and then switched back for 1987? Strange.

No....you called it. It was under the gas tank that I put on it. Massive brainfart.

Hey, at least you found it. That's the main thing. We'll just enjoy the rides and won't mention this again.:beer
