Hey guys, I have a light tick noise from my cam chain when my 250ES big red is running and it looks like my cam chain tensioner is fully extended, and by quick measure it seems like I need another 1mm for it to be quiet, has anyone tried to extend the tip of their cam chain tensioner to get the same fix?
I have looked on the forum and on youtube but can't find any proper result. I do not want to install a manual tensioner, nor do I want to replace my cam chain, I would rather just take the tip off and maybe turn a new one on my lathe that has that extra 1mm or even 2mm for added measure. Just not sure how viable this would be. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check out this thread , I do this mod all the time for that model motor and it will work on a fourtrax 300 as well .
You have to use a 1985 tensioner for all years , 1986 and up tensioner is different .

Thank you so much shortline10! That is exactly 100% what I had in mind! Luckily mine is the the 85 with the cap and rolling pin so I will give it a try.
