Yes...it happened to me when I bought some wheels for a 3 wheeler, wrong bolt pattern and size. Only found out after the tire wouldn't bead.

don't you hate when a buddy texts you his buddy is selling 3 trikes but it's 6.5 hours away. it's priced so right it's worth the 13 plus hour round-trip. but you just can't convince yourself you need them?
