Will a 225 cylinder work with the 200 motor? I see they have the same cylinder head.

You’d need the crank, rod and piston at the very least as the stroke is different.

I can’t remember all the details, but I looked at it hard about 10 years ago and concluded it wasn’t possible. The head is the only thing I recall that they shared.

Thanks

Did a part # check.

1983 YTM200K
Rod 15A-11651-00-00
Crank 99999-01950-00

1983 225DX
Rod 29U-11651-00-00
Crank 99999-01953-00

The 1984 225DX crank 99999-01954 Wonder what the difference is.

Edit no difference.

Well besides the crank and the rod being wrong the cylinder won't even fit in the case, definitely a no go.269081

Well, if you punch out the 200 cylinder to the max 2mm over you end up with about 213cc, so you can get close to the 225 which I’m guessing is probably cast 222 or 223 on that cylinder.

Head, cam and valves are the same, so any power gains would be hard to distinguish (assuming that’s what you’re after).

I never went up again a 200 shaft drive in the 80’s, but a 200 chain drive had at least a 5mph top end advantage over the 225 shaft.

No wasn't after more power, I picked up a 225 junker for the cost of a used head on Ebay that I needed for the 200. The cylinder on the 200 has a few broken fins so was wondering if it would work. Would have been cool if it did.
