I go through the hassle of getting titles on most of the trikes I sell. We can go to our motor vehicle acct and see what cars due for registration etc and I see 3 or 4 of the trikes I sold still registered in my name.
I can fill out a sold notice but I'm just wondering if someday one of these gets impounded and I get a call to come pick a trike up. jim

I title everything I am keeping. If its a flip or I am robbing it for parts I will not title it. I can get it done in PA for $27.50. I do the same for ATVs.

Just curious, does leaving something titled in your name up there also mean that you’re legally responsible for what happens to it?

Had a bad experience down here with selling my wife’s car years back. About three years later the police came to the door because it had been involved in a hit-and-run and the new owners had never switched over names. We got real lucky that all it was was a dent and dash, and not something more serious.

You should fill out a sold notice anytime you sell a vehicle, however, if the buyer does not register it, the authorities will contact you if they find it abandoned anywhere etc. You should also contact DMV to confirm that they received the sold notice you sent in. If they do, then you are free from any liability, but if they don't, you can get hassled if the vehicle is involved in an accident or used in a crime etc.
