Hi just checking in with everyone on purchasing a new battery, I’ve run into the conversation of 12v 12 amp VS 12v 14 amp, and there is a price difference on Amazon between the two as well. So I have a 1985 200M and the manual calls for 12v 14 amp battery. I took out the old battery (12v 14amp) and went shopping to my local Canadian Tire, they didn’t have a 14amp, but had a 12amp, and their computer screen had the 200M ATC heading. So this got me wondering can you run a 12 amp battery in these ATC’s or should ya stick with the 14amp. I don’t have a winch or anything like that on my ATC. Thoughts….

I'm no expert on this subject, but here's my take. I think that you'll be fine most of the time with a 12 amp battery. The only time that I can see where you may have issues is when it's really cold. Then the battery may not have enough to get the engine started. If you keep it a heated (attached) garage, you'll probably still be fine.

If you're wanting to save money on a battery, expect to buy them more often. Cheap generic Chinese ones anyway, like on Amazon.

The battery I've been using on my 200ES since 2015 is a Deka EXT15. AGM and 14amp.

They are sold under at least a couple other different brand names besides their own.

Regardless of the battery you need to verify operating voltage of the charging system from idle to higher RPMs, loaded and unloaded. The charging systems on these old trikes aren't the best and if cables and connections are bad it just makes it that much worse.
