I'm debating whether or not to throw a $20 in the microwave.
Kinda makes you wonder what else the gov't has microchips hidden in. Food, cars, computers?????

Suprised ? You shouldnt be. They have been doing this for years. The government is soon to have (if not already) reading devices that can be pointed at objects (such as a house, car, person), and show the amount of cash that it contains. This passed through the government with the hope of stopping drug dealers from transferring large amounts of cash, and to identify large stashes of cash. Now were all screwed.

It doesnt suprise me. Whats this world coming to though when the government is using money to track people to bust. I guess in a way it's a good thing, but it's none of the governments business if I have a couple hundered thousand dollars kept in my house because I don't believe in banks.

Well...we got talkin about it in chat, and I decided to try it out. I got a new $20 and an old $20. I put the new one in for about 15sec. and sure enough...a little brown spot started to form on its nose. The old one didnt do anything after being in for about 20sec.

Very strange... :!:

Has to do with the new ink. Stop being paranoid. There are no micro-chips in money and YES you can see micro-chips...

someone will come up with something to "fry" or disable these chips without burning the money...like on the black market :-P

How can a person worry so much about money when he not have any?

I would suggest placing the $20 bill on a hard metal surface and hit it in the center a few times with a BIG FAWWKIN HAMMER. Not hard enough to tear through the paper but hard enough to damage tiny electrical crap.

Actually money is not made out of paper. Its made out of cotton. Old blue jeans mostly. Saw it on the discovery channel.

I did not know it was made from cotton. Is that the reason for it burning in the microwave???

I thought the new 20's had some aluminium in them to make them harded to counterfit.. or was I dreaming that?

You are not dreaming, and if you have any doubts as to what effect that would have in a microwave, draw a design on some paper using metalic paint, and stick it in there. In the past counterfeit bills money handling machines have used optics to "read" bills, but with home computer technology so advanced, money handling machines now read the contents and substance of the bills as well as optically. Old dollar changer machines read optically in black and white, but with better copy machines they were advanced to also read color. Now scanners and printers can make some pretty good fake bills. Now with strategically placed metalics in bills, bank machines can easily sort and pick out fakes among new bills. By the way, has anybody else noticed their local ATM's switching to $20 bills only?

Conspiracy theories are interesting, but when a governement cant track, guns, drugs, or illegal alians which are far fewer combined than $20 bills, would it really make sense to install a transmitter in each bill and track each bill? Can you imagine what kind of resources it would take to do that when everyone has them, and they change hands often several times in one day? I dont think Ill fry mine in the microwave today.
