I am going by what Ive heard on these boards. I have read tons of posts on how stock 350x's have smoked lightly modified 400ex's and none of the posts have been disputed.Plus, I could probably get a ex rolling chassis for around a grand and a strong X engine for about 5-600 and have a better quad than the ex for half the price.

why not just get a 350x and leave it at that?? if you do put he engine in a quad, put it in a 250x chassis. that will be easier. there are palces that sell kits to make the engine fit.

well is it possible that the 350x is faster beacuase it is also A HELL OF ALOT LIGHTER. then the 400ex...and the 400ex also has more reistance.. it makes sence to stick to a COMPLETE 350x if you wanna go fast

ah good, someone actually KNOWS why the 350 wastes the 400... haha, stick a 350x engine in a 300ex or a 250x.. but sticking it in a 400ex is retarded.

this dude i went ridin with a while back had a 250ex frame with a 350x motor in it,bored it to a 400 it had 350ex plastics and 400ex shocks, swiingarm axle a-arms and tires.(it was a mutt quad) but it kept up with our 400ex's

The 400ex and 350X motors have the same HP output so a swap would do no good. The 400EX has more aftermarket power upgrades so I would stick with that.

the reason that 350 smokes a 400ex is because it is much lighter

Thanks for all the posts. And no, im not retarded as of yet. Holler at me in a few more ounces. By the way, I just found out there is yet another option - crf 450. The ad in DirtWheels said 400$ for a complete engine so,scew the 350 and 400ex engines.

If you can find a GOOD crf 450 motor for $400,I'll give ya $500.you'll be lucky if you find 1 for less than $2,000.

do you have a 400EX? if so, and you want more power, look at a 416 or 440 kit for it, they are a few hundred bucks, and offer great power gains

Has anyone tried this?

350x motors were put in TRX250R chassis' before the 400ex, to essentially build one. Once the 400ex's came out, this custom build was pretty pointless. Now its even more pointless because the 400ex motors are cheaper and easier to find, and have more modifications available.
