Hi all,

Sweet site you guys have here, so I figured I'd come to you for advice. My father has two Honda FatCats sitting in the basement that he's decided to get rid of, and he asked me the best way to sell them. Well, I have no idea. What do you guys think of e-bay vs the local paper?

One's an '87 with less then 30 hrs and in perfect shape, totally clean. I was thinking of around $2,300?

The other is an '86 with around 150 hrs on it. Also is fantastic shape. Not even a scratch. I was thinking around $1,900 for that one.

Do these prices seem in line to you guys? Is there any market at all for these things anymore? Forgive my stupidity, but I'm a boater, not a mud runner.

Thanks in advance for your help and taking the time to respond.

Fair enough, thanks Firebird. I was pretty much shooting from the hip as far as prices go.

I would also say eBay. Probably get more money that way. People like to get in bidding wars sometimes and makes the prices go UP UP UP!

well, that kinda depends. I live in WNY too and the trikes that sell in the buffalo news are on average $200-$300 more than what they go for on ebay, and they sell the first day. i dont know if there is much of a market for fat cats, but i know i'd like one, just got too much money tied up already. but, i'd put it in the news, you wont have to worry shipping and an ad isn't too much. you could try the swap sheet too, i've sold and bought alot of stuff out of that. hope this helps

you could try the swap sheet too :beer :D I love the swap sheet!!! Just had to add that.

I would ebay them. Since there are not a lot of them around in great shape it would probably bring the most money, especially because you don't know how well they will sell in your area. If you put them on ebay then be sure to list them seperatly. I have found that more comon things like quads and trikes sell better in the paper.

I didnt know that fat cats went for that much money, I would figure $1500 tops for either. Never seen one go higher than that on egay, have you guys??? I think they are cool as heel though. The coolest is the Yamaha BW350, now that is a cool machine.

Thanks alot guys, I greatly appreciate it. Sounds like I should drop the asking price a little, huh?

I was figuring that the swap sheet or local paper would be alot easier, since anyone who replies would be local. But like you guys pointed out, e-bay seems to work really well in spite of the geographic issues.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, and I'll post again to let you guys know how I did. If any of you are in the Rochester area sometime and want to get out walleye or bass fishing, drop me a line, I'll take you out.

No, those aren't mine, I haven't even written an add yet. But it sounds like maybe I'm not that far off in my asking price. I think I'll just drop each by 100 bucks and put them on e-bay. I'm sort of surprised there are that many for sale out there. I did a little research and it looks like they only made them for two years. Guess the puplic wasn't quite ready for them yet, huh?
