Today i put all the fastners/washers off my bigred into a big bucket of hydrocloric acid to strip off the rust and grime, sure it strips it off but it also strips the gal coat or electroplate coat on them. I was just going to paint them to stop them rusting but have decided against it.

Could these things be electroplated or galvanised somehow? They are washers, collars, bolts, nuts, clamps etc. Im supposing a profesional would have to do this but is it expensive?

Is there a way that i can stop these fastners from rusting by doing something to them myself?

Thanks,

Matt

You could always try and find an electroplating kit and re-coat the nuts and bolts to look like stock.
