what do you guys think of the new 04 400XR. I like it. its this or a pred 500. i would be doing a lot of tight woods riding. and some water. does dirt bikes go good in like small swampey water streams? or even mudd holes.?

The xr 400 has always been a SOLID bike. Very reliable, plenty of power, and versitile. I'm not aware of any significant changes to the '04 and haven't ridden an '04. I've ridden several from the 90s and they are a blast. If you don't mind spending the extra $$ for a new one, go for it. It'll last forever. OR you could find a nice used (year or two old) one. The 400 could get a little heavy in sloppy conditions.

i talked to a mechanic and he said that xr's are the most reliable bikes made today. I had to pry this info out of him cause he doesn't want to lose business :p

i have a xr80 n a kx80 my xr will make it through any mud hole under the tail pipe im sure a xr400 will (bigger tires more power etc) my kx is a diffrent storie :-D to much spin for the mud , dirtbikes are awsome for mucky steep hills and wheelies!!! all though im thinkin about gettin a 360x or a blaster just to see what the like
