acident turns my trike in a uni-wheeler

well, i'm out riding today, nice weater, and everything was going good, when i hear a loud ting noise, i don't think much of it so i keep driving, about 5 minutes later, i hear another ting and the whole rear axle gose, breaking the chain and brake cable :eek: . as i literaly piss my self the trike keep skiding along at about 35 mph with no back end ! as i stop, thankfully unharmed but sure as hell shaken up ! i look at the back and i was shocked, like i said before, rear end was gone, snaped the chain and brake cable, and what do u see rolling buy me. MY REAR END !

thats impossible, unless it went by the shock mount and the swingarm bolt, which i doubt, otherwise doesnt the axle have to slide sideways out of the carrier after you take the tire and hub and all that off? or is a 200x different?

that sounds a bit far fetched, you mean to say the locknut loossened up and came all the way off, right side hub came off, you would notice something was wrong long before. I can notice if my axle nut is loose by how the bike handles, I would defintley notice if my axle was gonna fall out.

no pics, maybe trailprotrailpro right about the lug nuts, but all i know is the rear axle came clear off

Not saying that thehickfarmer is telling the truth or not, I don't know, BUT I definitely know that the rear tires CAN fall off a bike. All you need is the swing arm bearings to let go and your whole back end can fall off. My friend on his Honda 350 foreman had it happen.

Isnt his rig a 200s? It has no shock mount. If the rear bearings gave way then this could easily have happened. Although i strongly doubt the bearings came loose.

they did, atleast i think, their original bearings, and who ever had my trike really paid no attention to regular maitnance

dude....what the hell this is entirely possibe...on a tecate at least...the carrier is bolted on the swingarm with 4 bolts if 2 or 3 vibrate out and the last one snaps your entire back end will fall out...

Yeah,he meant the whole carrier fell out. Because your axle can't come out without you rear wheel coming off. And I think he has a honda 200, so it doesn't have a swinger.Please read the post again people! Anyway, I believe ya hick. :D

arnt the 200x carriers welded to the swingarm? so the first ping was probrably one of the welds and the other weld cant hold all that by itself...

Well I was suppose to sell this guy a trike on Tueday and deliver it for him and now he backed out. Guess there will be no pictures from me. That is all I will say here.
