yo 200x you said your car is set up for 1/4 mile but 60 ft is 60 ft in 1/4 mile
or 1/8 mile your car needs more gear how tall of a tire are you running and how much converter are you running and how much chip do you have in your 2 step?????

60' is the same in the 1/8 or 1/4 so you have me confused there. it is set up for the 1/4 mile. i can only turn 6500 rpm on the 351w so i run a 28" tall tire and 3.73 gears. i set the gears up for the 418. the 351w is just a junk engine that i plan to use until july.

you cant run more gear if you cant spin your engine to 7500 rpm. you have to balance it. here is a good equation for you

...COMPUTE THE IDEAL 1/4 MILE PASS...

Elapsed Time X MPH = 1335

Examples:

13.35 x 100.00 MPH = 1335

12.00 X 111.25 MPH = 1335

If the factor is more than 1335, add more rear gear.

If the factor is less than 1335, reduce rear gear.

Well what im trying to say and please dont be offended but your 60 ft times are lazy 351 or 418 you still do not have the HP to pull the 3.73 gear,so as it stands if you had more gear and not knowing what your converter is your 60 foot would pick up so I would try a 430 gear

other than its an egg sucker, its pretty nice. me and my stepdad are currently restoring a 67 nova...it is awesome

not offended but you do not seem to unserstand my whole combo. yes a 4:30 would pick the 60 foot up but i would be bouncing off of the rev limiter the last 200 feet int he 1/4 mile. the 60 foot is lazy right now but i have a low HP engine. hell i run it on 87 octane. it is only 9:1 compression. i have ran cars from 8.20 in the 1/4 to street cars like this, so i know there is is lots of progress to be made.

it just seems odd that that motor turns 6800 with a 3.73 and a 28 inch tire,
you never said what converter is in it,it sounds like you were a chevy guy
so you could build a nice little 5.7 rod 406 chevy motor and and put it in that ford, around here people call me a bottle baby so I got a shirt made that says
ALL THROTTLE AND A LOTA BOTTLE people say its cheating but all is fair in street racing,do you know what carb you are going to run on the other motor

i am a race car guy (not chevy, ford, or dodge). my last car was a 86 notch back with a 347. before that i had a tubed chassis 67 nova with a 565 big block on alcohol with a enderle injection. i build a new car every two years as a hobby.

the RPM limit on this engine is 6500 rpm due to the 3" mains. the 418 will be limited to the same RPM just to be safe. I also like the bottle and had a custom cam ground by Ed Curtis at www.flowtechinductions.com to fit my combo. i will be running a holley 950 HP 4150 series from www.flowsystems.com

we did a 66 chevy 2 a few years back had 33/22.5 hoosiers 482 alluminum
head, roller BDS 671 with a bird catcher on alcohol did not work out to good on the street, yes when holley came out with the HP carbs I bought a
1000+ I was always a dominator guy until I got that HP carb I think they
are close to injection as you can get in a carb,Just where are you located

this nova ran a 5.37 at 127 mph in the 1/8th with a 1.18 60' time on 32x17 slicks!! that was a blast but it wan not a street car. it would burn 4 gallons of alcohol in 5.3 seconds :)
