4 stroke arctic cat sled

Anyone here ever drive one of these machines? Are they gutless? I got five older machines I want to get rid of and was curious about the new 4 strokes.

I can only tell you what I have heard so I don't know first hand. A guy at work had one and said it was gutless. He getting the Yamaha 4 this year, I'll let you guys know how that is.

I'm a Arctic cat fan all the way, but the 4 stroke arc is gutless. It is only 45 hp and more for joy riding and touring. The yamaha 4 stroke is 150hp and fast as heck! My guess is arctic cat will come back next year and have something even better than the yamaha.

The new Arctic Cat 4 strokes seem pretty gutless to me, just by reading about it on their web site. The new Yami seems kick ass. I think Arctic Cat launched it's sled as fast as it could to have something in the market to compete with the Yami.

Either way, re-building those 4 strokes every 10,000-20,000 miles will be a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. I know 2 strokes have to be re-built ever 10,000 or 20,000 if theyre ridded the way they were ment to be i na sled. I jsut can't figure out these jet-skis Never get re-built unless someone wants to race with them. MY aunt's waverunner has probably thousands of hours on it, having the piss beat out of it, water sized once, and still runs very very strong. It's about a '92 or '94 Yamaha 650 twin cylinder. Who knows.

The arctic cat 4-stoke is a touring modle, just like the polaris and ski-doo 4-strokes. They were made mostly for rental companies, and for people who just like to crusise around. The yammie 4-stroke is called the rx-1 and it uses a inline 4 1000cc motor based on the r-1 street bike. It should be a decent sled, but the biggest problem with it is it weights over 600lbs dry! If you only ride groomed trails it would be a great sled though. Polaris just introduced some turbo charged watercrafts, they are both 750cc twin 4-stokes, producing either 110hp or 150hp depending on the boost. Now if they put that 150hp motor into a sled and it weighed under 500lbs they'd sell a ton of them because you'd have the best of both worlds, light weigh and good mpg.

The Yamaha is a 1200cc DOHC cam motor. I would think it was pulled from a street bike, but I do not know. It sounded like it was specially designed for that sled. If it was that would explain the $12,000 price tag.

Hemi you are off on the rx-1, its a 1000cc 5 valve per cycl motor based on the r-1 street bike. It only costs $8500 not 12 grand.

Sorry Dynofox, you are correct, I was incorrect. I remember reading abotu the RX-1 when it was first put on the web site, and it having the stuff I mentioned above. I even downloaded the RX-1 screen saver.

That thing is supposedly Yamaha's top high performance sled, who knows. I bet it sounds bad ass at top RPM.

two stroke sled motors only last 6-7 thousand miles. like jet skies.
