the 2005 models have been announced and just as everyone thought, the 400ex is discontinued and all the sportrax models have lost their title to the original "TRX" title.

i'd figure they'd lower the price and keep the 400 ex and drop the 300 ex. the 400 is still a great machine for those who cant afford or dont need a 450r.

Whats a aire cooled? Go to list of sport quads and move your mouse over the 05 TRX 300EX and it says aire cooled :p
It's really hard to see honda to let go the 400EX so maybe they're coming out with a new 400 sport quad

air cooled means that it doesnt have a radiator...it relies on the air to cool down the engine

400ex is not discontinued. It will be released after the dealers meeting and will be a big deal because it will meet some new EPA regs for off road vehicles. That is the only reason it hasn't been released yet. It will still be here. I sure hope that 2005 or 2006 sees a xr 650 based honda, that is what I'd be getting as far as quads go.

I'm plaining getting a quad pretty soon and if honda has the 650 out by then I'll be looking into it.

Info about the 05 400EX:

Torrance, CA - The 2005 Honda TRX400EX has just received the first
Certificate of Conformity awarded by the Environmental Protection Agency,
under the new low emissions regulations, adopted late last year, for
recreation vehicles and engines, beginning in 2006.

Widely acknowledged as a leader in safety and environmental technology,
Honda has a long list of "firsts" in applying new thinking and technologies
to production vehicles.

"We're extremely pleased and excited to offer our customers
environmentally-friendly machines that don't sacrifice anything in terms of
performance and fun", said Ray Blank, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.,
Motorcycle Division Vice President. "We take a great deal of pride in being
the first manufacturer to receive the EPA's certification for the 2006
regulations that apply to off-highway motorcycles, and ATVs, well before
the new federal standards take effect."

The TRX400EX will be available for sale after the Honda dealer convention
in September 2004, where seven additional 2005 Honda ATV models that meet
the 2006 EPA regulation will also be announced.
