whats a good quad for me?

hello i was thinkin about gettin a predator or the z400....i want somethin that is fast but something that would do good on hill climbs what one do you think would be best for me?

you should get a 350x...i know you want a quad but if you rode a 350 you would like it. they are fast, fun, and awesome at hillclimbs, mud, racing, ramping anything you can think of

my dad has a 350x that i ride bein he don't ride much anymore and i do agree they are great and i gotta 83r and i gotta 84r that i need to put back togeather that i got for $150 but im thinkin about gettin a quad i do love 3 wheelers and am keepin the ones i have but im thinkin about the predator or the z400

the pred would be better suited for what you wanna do. but the z400 is quite nice bike also

It is a hard decision, I have been thinking about it for awhile also.

Some good things to concider: best local dealer, price of quad, electric start, reverse, aftermarket parts, 2 or 4 stroke

Myself i am leaning towards a predator. I want electric start and I don't care if I have reverse or not.

i'd go with a new pred that has the reverse.

the banshee will do better on the hillclimbs, its nose heavy so it will keep the front planted more than a 350X and has tons more power.

Yeah but i wanna 4 stroke...if i get another 2 stroke its not gonna be a 4 wheeler its gonna be a liq. 250r i just hate spending the extra money on oil every time i need gas.

ahh...well my friend has a Predator and after about a year of riding the thing is out of commision with $970 worth of topend damage to be repaired.

I'd go with a Z400, they are awsome little machines that do everything well.

I don't know what im gonna get yet but all i know is im gonna get whatever i get in prob another month or so. Took my 250r out today and went out to some hill climbs and ran into a friend of my gf's and he wouldn't get off my case he wanted to race me so bad so i went and raced him on a long A** road and got my a** handed to me like i knew was gonna happen but all in all it was fun my 83r vs 03 z400. He though he was gonna beat me worse than he did he was about 5 bike lengths ahead of me and both bikes are all stock. So im thinkin i want something that will beat him....you think a pred. or a 85 or 86R would take him?

The predator will smoke his trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. Even though the predator is a polaris it comes with fox raceing shocks and polaris has an awsome aftermarket that they make for it. I would go with the predator.

one of our old riding buddies has a Z400 and loves it. he had a banshee but it didnt have the ground clearance he needed and it didnt have electric start or reverse. the z400 is pumped up quite a bit now with nitrous and a Looney Tuned pipe along with a slew of other high dollar parts. check out Sweet Quads.com for more info thats his site and its great. he deals parts as well.

all this talk and i havent seen anything of a 400ex mentioned, i havnt ridden any of the other bikes but i know the ex is awesome up hills, has great all around power and kills shees up hills from a standing start, only thing is is that the fron end does like to stand up.

I love my 400ex! With all the newer quads out you can pick one up pretty cheap new or used. There is a ton of aftermarket for them and if power is your thing a 440 kit is fairly cheap. With the proper mods you'll be upsetting people all day. As far as beating shees, you'll have a hard time stock.

Oh yeah, and as far as reverse, I've had it on other machines and I just don't think it's a big enough deal to make a purchasing decision on. I didn't need it on my 250R or my LT250R and I just don't care if I have it or not.

frankly reverse is over rated. i'm sorry if i step on anybodies toes here. i'm a quad rider mostly. i'm just getting back inot trikes and i've benn riding quads for quite a while now. i've raced both preds , z400's and 400ex's. my advise to you would be to go with one of teh 400's probably the suzuki. it depends really if you wnat to mod it or not. if your looking for something to wrench on a bit also then go with the honda all teh mods for the honda are cheap and it's a single overhead cam compared to the suzuki's expensive to mod dual over head cam (bout 239.00 each ouch!!) if it were me i'd say banshee, 250R, LT250R, tecate 4, LT500R really any two stroke. but i'm just a 2 stroke freak!! also the polaris is heavy. oh yeah don;t what ever you do even look at a raptor. they are big time junk.. oh yeah if you like teh z400 check out the kawi KFX400 and the artic cat DVX400. it's the same quad as the z400 (suzuki makes all 3) they just have a bit of a differnt look to them especialy the DVX. in case you didn't know that now you do.

I think a 400ex would be good. Reliable,good trail machine,easy aftermarket parts and you can get them pretty cheap.
