Well damn, Guess I couldn't convince you to get a Dodge...Very nice rig though. Hope the 6.0 treats you well.

10-08-2004, 07:50 PM
Yeah, drove the dodge and hated it. Slow, and rode like crap. The reason the connecting rods are so large on the dodge is because it is a straight 6 and the ford is a V-8. They have the bugs worked out of the 6.0 now too, so that helped my decision.

Yeah, its the 6.0 diesel...325hp and 570 ft/lbs of torque..one bad mutha! As soon as it is broke in, i'm getting the banks kit for it. Then it will be about 475 hp and 830 ft/lbs of torque.

i would think about getting it off the ground before anything. why does it sit so low?, it sort of looks like the mutt of a camper van, a limo and a truck. it's parents abandoned it. bleah.

isnt that hole getting pretty deap now? just when you think he's hit the magma.

Actually...the V10 puts out a lot more power than the 460's. Its just that the trucks are getting so big and heavy, that its hard to notice all the extra power the motor's got :(

Whoops....forgot to add:

Kickass truck Kimmer! My dad and I are drooling over the 2005 F-350 Lariat CC Dually 4x4 Fx4 (whew...thats a mouthfull)

Definately get you a 6" lift to accompany the Banks system (Dont forget propane injection...thats good for another 50HP and 100lb-ft (or so))

thats a nice truck and the new v10 has balls to the walls with that 3v engine but becareful if u put any after market parts like the banks system its not covered in the warenty so if it blows up or breaks it out of trailprotrailpro pocket but its a pertty truck and it would look good with a 6in lift and some 35 or 38 in tires good job chosin the right truck not a suzuki built motor(chevy). good truck

Yah, get the bully dog propane injection, that really kicks out the ponies on a diesel.

probally sits sooo low cause of those little tiny tires on it..

my neighbor has a banks kit on his powerstroke 4x4 and he gets 25mpg on the highway. but, he did just blow his tranny (automatic) at a little over 100,000 miles and the dealer said too bad. its a nice looking truck, though i do have to say i am partial to the cummins motors, even though i'm a diehard chevy man.

hey,yea the new do gasers suck the old 460s are awesome my 90' F250 has a 460 in it thats been worked the hell out of(and 4 wheeled), neverdid nuthin except oil(slick 50 every like 40,000) and spark plugs, over 300,000miles and its never been babied(never a trans or mehanicl part rplaced except spk plugs) and did you see the tests, the 6.0s totally dominated everthing nd then cummins(whic ford designed and wut not thensold to dodge) and they were realy far ahea of duracrap in every thing in the test, ad i your gunna get a diesel, if you gt a automatic trans youl be replaci em left an right no matter wut ya do
o yea i forgot we had to weld shut one exhaust leak to, not bad for 300000 miles on ay gas motor, huh? :D :beer

and ford vs chevy motors(gas) are like a honda(bein ford) vs. Yamaha (chevy), youll neve have the performance of a yamaha with a honda but the reliability is always there and i guess dodge is just like suzuki or kawasaki, never really test things to say if there worth a crap hey just sel em to ya anywayz and don care if they break(ex:any dodge/any kawi or suzuki) and they dont care if they sell somethin youl kill yourself in (ex:SRT-10 and quadzilla)

Way to go kimmer!

My Trike *****:

Ford truck motors don't suck. The 5.4L is a strong motor for being smaller then a 350 and that V10 is no slouch either. The 6.0L, forget about it, it's a power house and they got the bugs worked out of them. The Dodge Cummins is sweet to as well as the Chevy Duramax. You really can't go wrong with the big 3 right now. I'm typical a Ford guy but I'm always a big gas motor guy for sure. My current favorite is the Chevy 8100 Vortec. If I could do it I would get a quad cab dually with an 8100 and Allison 5 speed auto. Untill then I'll drive my F-250 with the 460 and a C-6 auto.

350xsx
10-09-2004, 11:05 PM
8100s are 496s rite?if i had a choice id have a 92-96 f-350 dually 4 door with a blown motor so i could replace it with a 6.0 6 speed in it and lift it

Ford did not design the Cummins motor...Cummins is a whole different company. Dodge didnt design it either.

Cummins makes Diesels for Dodge, Isuzu makes diesels for Chevy and International makes the Diesels for Ford. :D

Close, Ford, Tennaco, & Kubota were part owners of cummins at one time. I belive they are fully independant now.

Billy Golightly

Ford did own a portition of Cummins in the 1970's, but they are fully independant now. The 5.9L cummins inline six that is used in the Dodge pickup trucks was designed by no one other then the Cummins R&D people. It was actually used as an industrial engine many many years before it found a home in a truck. They used them as pump motors, generator engines, and even mildy in marine use. Dodge had nothing to do with it other then saying "Oohhh nice engine, wana make a deal so we can put it in our truck?". The duramax was designed by Isuzu, and the Powerstrokes were designed by International's Navistar division.

my uncle has a v10 dodge magnum..its not horribil on gas..its ok..but i wasnt impressed with the power of it..btw this is a 96' i think..lol to me it felt like the 99' chevy 3/4 ton with the 350 felt like it had more grunt ...when pulling the car trailer..but i dunno :p

ok sorry i heard it from mutiple people and saw iton a site so figured they did, my friend had a V10 dodge dually and it got 3mpg and 1 when he was towin his race trailer lol, it was fast as hell tho, and then his helper took it home one dy cuz his truck was broke, and he was screwin around wit his wife and he went up on the sidewalk on the other side of the road, then came back across and ran into a car head on, he bent the frame and everythin was wrecked

idk wut was messed up but i do know thats wut it got, thats no lie and no exageration it sucked up so much gas,i dont see it gettin 15 mpg either bein its a v10, my 460 gets 11mpg, o but it also has a ton or two of work crp on it

If you watch the show TRUCKS! on SpikeTV, they showed the episode of Stacey testing out the banks turbo kit.

My cousins Dodge diesel will throw you back in the seat too when his turbo kicks in. He's got his diesel hopped up also.

my freind has a '93 ford f250 4x4 ext cab long bed with the 460 in it, its turnin 12.5" wide 35's and it will stil lay down 2 healthy rubber patches but nothing compared to my other freinds dads dodge...i think its an '01 2500 4x4 shortbed with the cummins, its got banks twin turbos and a 6 gun setup , no joke he layed down rubber from light pole to light pole (about 100yds) in the school parking lot, he was haulin ass sideways doin atleast 40mph and the only reason he stopped was becuase he had to get outta it because he thought the rear was gonna hit the pole...CRAZY fast

10-12-2004, 10:44 PM
ya diesels are sik nowadays, and yea the hemis are alrite but there usin it as a name now, so people will buy it, its not that same old hemi your gettin in a 'cuda or somethin, its a regular motor workd over a lil, and in a truck yea its crazy to have a fast motor but to me its more about pullin power and durability, i know my stock 460 aint that fast, and it does depend on gearing, my dad has the same exact truck as me only 4 door not ex. cab, and its got different gears in it, and the thing wont even feel fast til ya get upto 80 and everthing evens out and then it rides smooth where as mine never has to smmoth out,
