What is This?

I found this while looking through some go kart parts that are at my Uncles house...... Does anyone know what it is? it has 2 probes, and an on/off switch. i do know that it has 2 electromagnets.it seems like when you make a full circuit, the light comes on........very old continuity tester?

I'm sure that is a old armature tester for starters and generators. I have heard them being called growlers because when you set the armature on the machine it makes a growling noise. I used one in vo-tech but that has been many years ago.
