I recently did some radar runs w/ a bunch of new mod 450's and a raptor ,and a predator . In 500 ft. my R was untouchable @ 66.6 MPH , the only one close was a modified 450 YZF @ 64.3 MPH . needless to say they were all pretty pissed, oh well sucks to be them .

What year is your R and I assume that was wide open?

I've been wanting to pick up a radar gun myself now that they're relatively cheap. I'd have to do a speed test on pavement though. I've always wondered exactly what my R's absolute top speed is when wheel spin is completely out of the equation.

I showed up at the local campground this past summer with my main trike , an 86 R ,and my 39 year old bag of bones, and was egged on by the younger folk to take that old dinosore off your truck and see what it will do. After i thought for a half a sesond I said why not. I beat every machine there! There were lots of modified quads and even 2 86 tecates that were the closest race, but I still beat them by 5 bike lengths. One guy with a big bore raptor was almost crying that his $13000 quad just got oblitherated by an 19 year old three wheeler! Not sure how long the run was, but I know when the front end finally came down the front end was shaking! So it's fast enough on top end to need a steering stabilizer!

hate to tell you, but it sounds as your steering stem bearings are shot, I had a tecate that did the same thing, when I replaced the steering stem bearings, problem solved. I love beating quads on my 250r, before the track was redsigned at one place I ride, only a few could touch me. Now they put tons of turns in, so I get passed by about 1/2 the bikes. I dragged a high buck banchee in a holeshot in a track that I ride in and my r was about equal to him, there was lots of variables there, so lost twice(not much), equal once and bearly edged him the last.

my front end shakes too. it never did trailprotrailpro i rebuilt it. could this be from a slightly bent front axle? (i used the axle to get my fly wheel off)

well, my 250r front end shakes a tad bit, but also my front rim is bent, I replaced two of them and I'm not replacing more. I guess the stock rim isn't meant for jumping much. A bent axle will do it too.

It's an 85 W/86 motor 6o over ,89 crank W/86 boost port piston and spacer plate ,MX porting, boyson rad valve drilled& fitted W/ nipple for the boost bottle, FMF fatty pipe& silencer, and it was only 500ft. run so I was not even close to being toped out. almost forgot I'm running a 40 mm lectron carb.
